The DepartmentThis is an exciting opportunity to join the School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering (CSEE). The School is a large and vibrant department in the Faculty of Science and Health. CSEE is internationally known for its research in a range of areas, and offers an excellent education to its students. The School is expanding due to increasing student numbers and now wishes to appoint additional lecturers to help us grow.Duties of the postWe wish to enhance the School's existing research in the broad area of Network Security/Cybersecurity as well as open up and develop new research activities that will become recognised as outstanding and internationally leading. The post will include teaching on computer science and network communications / cybersecurity courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level. This will include delivering existing modules, developing new ones and generally enhancing our research-led teaching. The duties of the post will also include: carrying out a programme of independent research leading to the publication of research articles and other research outputs, which can be returned under the Research Excellence Framework and teaching undergraduate and postgraduate modules in computer science and electronic engineering. We aim for excellence in education as well as in research and are looking for candidates who can contribute to both. Qualifications and Skills requiredApplicants should have a PhD in Electronic Engineering / Computer Science in a related discipline; or the expectation of a PhD qualification prior to the start of the appointment. You should also have a good degree in Electronic Engineering / Computer Science or related discipline as well as Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (UKPSF D2) (attained via a recognised higher education teaching qualification, e.g. a postgraduate certificate in HE practice, or by an appropriate accreditation process) or the commitment to gain such recognition by the end of their probationary period. Candidates should also have advanced knowledge in one or more of the following: Cybersecurity, Network Security, Hardware Security Techniques, Ethical Hacking, Big Data Security and CISCO.This permanent, full-time post will be based at our Colchester Camus.We strongly encourage applications from women as they are underrepresented in this area.At the University of Essex internationalism is central to who we are and what we do.
