The Department of Language and Linguistics is seeking to appoint a full-time Lecturer in the field of Phonology and related areas. The appointed candidate will be responsible for delivering teaching in phonology and phonetics at both the undergraduate and postgraduate level. The successful candidate will have specialised in phonology with expertise in related areas such as phonetics and morphology an added advantage. The candidate should demonstrate excellent research in phonology, showing a good understanding of the inter-connectedness between phonology and other modules of grammar and with phonetics in particular. The successful candidate will also contribute to the supervision of both MA and PhD students in phonology and related areas.
The contract is a full time permanent role attracting 36 hours per week. The start date is variable but the successful candidate should be in post by latest 1st September 2017. The post places equal importance to excellence in teaching and in research and the successful candidate must demonstrate both an ability to offer a transformative education to students and also conduct excellent research demonstrated in high quality publications and with potential for research to have a wider than academic impact.
The successful candidate will hold a PhD in Phonology or a highly related field, and should be able to deliver modules in phonology and phonetics at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, as well as contribute to the administration and management of the department.
