The Department is a growing and vibrant department in the Faculty of Science and Health. DMS is internationally known for its research in a range of areas, and offers an excellent education to its students and is now looking for an Operations Administrator to join the team.Duties of the RoleWe are looking for an Operations Administrator to provide administrative and operational support for staff and students in the Department of Mathematical Sciences. You will work with the Department Manager to ensure that proper, effective and efficient administrative structures are in force in the department and that it is compliant with University procedures. Duties will include monitoring student attendance and progress and analysing data relating to this, assisting with applicant days and other departmental events, maintaining departmental course and module records, processing purchase orders/goods receipting and expenses claims and providing an interface between staff, students and external enquirers who contact the Department.Skills and Qualifications requiredThe successful candidate will be educated to at least A-Level standard or equivalent and will be able to evidence a high level of competency in the use of Microsoft Word, excel and Outlook, or have qualifications in this.The post requires someone with a flexible approach who is able to multi-task, and work both independently and as part of a team. You will be an excellent communicator and will thrive on working in a busy environment, prioritising tasks and meeting deadlines. You will have the ability to develop strong working relationships with both academic and professional services colleagues, solve practical and logistical challenges and have excellent administrative, organisational and IT skills.
