Make Happen
Make Happen is a Uni Connect partnership, which is a collaboration between a group of HE Institutions, FE Institutions, Schools, Local Authorities and charities with a single purpose - to raise aspirations and widen participation in higher education throughout Essex. Make Happen has been delivering activity since January 2017.
Duties of the Role
We are seeking an exceptional Collaborative Outreach Officer to work closely with selected schools and colleges organising and delivering activity across Essex. This is an exciting opportunity to join a team with a commitment to really make a difference.
The post holder will develop and deliver a variety of outreach projects to school students in years 9 -13, build strong links with the schools in the local area and understand what their needs are to raise participation to higher education from low progression areas. The role will be part of an Essex wide team with a central team in Colchester.
This post is fixed-term until 31 July 2021 due to maternity cover, and is remotely based at Writtle University College.
Qualifications and Skills required
We are looking for an individual with experience of working with young people who can deliver outreach activities. The post-holder must be organised, and have experience of public speaking and experience in arranging educational projects, activities or events.
The successful candidate will hold an honours degree or equivalent level qualification and have experience in working with diverse groups and young people. You should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong administrative skills, and experience of dealing with multiple priorities and tight deadlines. You will have the flexibility, adaptability and the ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
Due to the requirements of the post, you will have the willingness to travel within the county of Essex and to work outside normal office hours when required.
