Library Services at the University of Essex provides high quality, user-focused services to support the learning, teaching and research needs of the university. The Collections team is responsible for acquiring, processing and managing the print and digital resources required to support library users.
We are currently seeking two Library Assistants (Collections) to work as part of a team focussed on receipting and cataloguing material acquired by purchase and subscription. The successful candidates will also be expected to assist with duties including: interlending; creating and editing of reading lists in our reading list management system; managing the library's physical collections; and, digitising core reading list material. Additionally the postholders will be required to undertake regular evening and weekend duties providing frontline support to users. Applicants should demonstrate good organisational, communication and IT skills, the ability to work with a high level of attention to detail, and an understanding of and commitment to providing excellent customer service.
Education to GCSE standard (or equivalent), including Maths and English at grades A-C is essential.
These posts are based at our Colchester campus and are offered on a full-time, permanent basis.
