IT Services, delivering outstanding IT and enabling excellence in its use, provides the supporting and enabling IT for the whole University, from underlying network infrastructure to digital skills training for staff and students. The IT Services vision is of a University where students and staff are actively supported in their endeavours to excel in creating, managing, communicating, and exploiting information by using information technology facilities and services that are user-centred, flexible, accessible, and resilient.
You will be part of the IT Services Administration group, who is responsible for providing wide-ranging administrative support and assistance to IT Services staff and aims to provide an excellent customer experience at all levels.
Duties of the Role
Working closely with the University's Health and Safety Advisory Service, you will support the implementation of the University's Health and Safety Policy and standards across IT Services. This will include advising, training and supporting IT Services managers to enable them to meet their responsibilities. You will also be coordinating health and safety arrangements and assisting with monitoring of health and safety, thereby helping to provide assurance on the adequacy and effectiveness of the University's health and safety arrangements.
The role is based in Colchester but some travel to other campuses in Southend and Loughton may be required.
Skills and qualifications required
You will be a Technical Member or Graduate Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) or have an equivalent qualification/experience. With an awareness of current health and safety requirements, you will have a track record of successfully coordinating and delivering health and safety projects and improvements. With excellent communication, organisational, administrative and IT skills, you will need to demonstrate the ability to communicate health and safety effectively to a wide audience and be able to work autonomously as well as part of a team. You will also have the confidence to deal effectively and professionally with a variety of people at all levels.
