Edge Hotel School
Edge Hotel School provides a new kind of higher education provision in hospitality, events and tourism management, where students’ academic study in the classroom is integrated with experience working with industry professionals in Wivenhoe House Hotel (a 4-star hotel based on the University of Essex’s Colchester Campus). The School’s ethos emphasises strong industry engagement.
The posts advertised are the initial appointments in support of this development which, in the near term future will also include the implementation of a Post Graduate Research track with fully funded Doctoral scholarships.
Duties of the Role
The School is looking for an enthusiastic and professional colleagues who will support the School educational strategy and contribute to the high quality delivery that characterises the School.
It is expected that the successful applicants will (dependent on the grade appointed) not only build on the Schools existing strengths but also bring a fresh perspective to a department which has a track record of successfully challenging higher education convention.
These Lecturer posts will play an active part in the delivery and development of the Hospitality, Tourism and/or Events programmes in the School.
The main duties for Lecturer ASE Grade 7, Grade 8 and Grade 9 can be found within the respective job packs attached.
Skills and qualifications required
The successful candidate will have experience and understanding of Hospitality, Event and/or Tourism Management and a passion to support the development of professionals for these industries.
For the Lecturer Grade 7 post you will have a Bachelor’s degree and have either professional experience and/or practice together with experience in teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels, or demonstrable potential to engage in teaching and learning support in higher education in imaginative, engaging and innovative ways.
For the Lecturer Grade 8 post you will have a relevant Masters level degree in Hospitality, Events and/or Tourism Management or be close to completion or equivalent professional experience or practice together with experience of working independently and / or part of a team in higher education delivery.
For the Lecturer Grade 9 post you will have or be very close to the completion of a relevant doctoral degree in Hospitality, Events and/or Tourism Management and have professional experience and practice together with experience of working independently or at in higher education teaching.

Team working
The successful candidate will be joining a small team of academic and professional services colleagues in the School, led by the School’s Head of Department. A collegiate approach and strong commitment to team working will be essential.
