As Marketing, Brand and Communications Manager (Maternity cover) your challenge is simple - help us make this happen during your time with us.
You’ll be given the chance to lead and inspire a team of full-time staff and student staff.
Together you’ll be responsible for finding new and ever more creative ways to engage with our members, helping them to understand all of the benefits of their membership.
That means overseeing our brand, building our comms channels and helping shape our data collection to meet the changing needs of our members.
You’ll be responsible for creating campaigns, leading on inspirational content and working with an imaginative team of marketers.

We are an award-winning Marketing team whose purpose is to ensure that the Students’ Union understands the needs of our 16,000 student members and, through intelligent, relevant and innovative marketing approaches, successfully engages members in the opportunities to them. We are responsible for managing the high profile brand of the Students’ Union, ensuring that our students understand that they are members of the SU, and having immediate access to everything on offer.
Reporting to the Deputy Director of Marketing, you will be responsible for leading the Students’ Union’s marketing team to ensure that the needs of our 16,000 student members are fully understood and they are successfully engaged in the activities and support that we provide.

Strong management experience in a relevant field at a middle or senior level

Holds a professional or management qualification or degree in a related area, or willing to undertake
Experience of leading and inspiring others in achieving organisational objectives
Experience of all aspects of Line Management, including recruitment, development, performance management and appraisal
Previous experience of project management and evaluation
Previous experience of setting and managing budgets and producing financial and statistical reports
Evidence of successfully achieving against organisational targets
Operational knowledge of risk assessments, health and safety and safeguarding considerations in relation to relevant activities
Ability to ensure departmental compliance with GDPR Regulations
Excellent written, oral communication and presentation skills
Excellent problem solving, negotiating and influencing skills
Ability to build and maintain effective networks internally and externally
Evidence of continuing professional development at a senior level
Good IT skills i.e. word, access, excel

CIM Level 6 Qualified
Experience of managing client marketing activity within an agency or comparable structure
Able to think creatively and find effective creative solutions to complex problems
Experience of managing communications and PR activity with external news and media organisations
Experience of developing and managing a successful brand and /or market research activity
Experience of using data to successfully inform marketing strategy
Understanding of the Higher Education environment in relation to the role
