We take an innovative and creative approach to our work and are at the forefront of new and best practice in communications, marketing, and stakeholder and customer service.We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, energetic and proactive individual to the position of Senior Outreach Officer to support the work of Make Happen coordinated by the Essex Collaborative Outreach Network which is a National Collaborative Outreach Programme (NCOP) based at the University of Essex. This is a new collaborative network incorporating many partners including Higher Education Institutions, Further Education Schools, Schools, Local Authorities and third sector organisations. This is an exciting opportunity to join a new team committed to widening participation and raising aspirations of young people into higher education across the county of Essex.Duties of the RoleThe main focus of the role will be responsibility for leading a small team, which are based remotely at partner institutions, to implement a programme of outreach activity and to develop and manage these outreach projects as part of Make Happen, the Essex Collaborative Outreach Network. In addition, you will be responsible for creating new and innovative outreach activities for schools and colleges in Essex, along with maintaining and developing new relationships with schools, colleges and other education organisations across Essex. Other duties will include providing expert advice to education organisations and ensuring all activity is accurately targeted.Due to the nature of the work, this appointment is subject to a criminal record check, known as a Disclosure. Skills and qualifications requiredA degree or equivalent higher education qualification is an essential requirement for this role. The successful candidate will have knowledge of the higher education sector and an understanding of the outreach agenda whilst having experience of delivering outreach within the education sector. In addition, you will have excellent written and oral communication skills, the ability to present to a range of audiences and previous experience of working with young people. You will also have a proven understanding of activities that can support young people into higher education. You should have previous experience working with young people and delivering educational activities. You must be organised, self-motivated and have the ability to communicate to a range of audiences.
