Make Happen - Communications and External RelationsMake Happen is a Uni Connect Partnership, which is a collaboration between a group of Higher Education (HE) Institutions, Further Education (FE) Institutions, schools, Local Authorities and charities with a single purpose - to raise aspirations and widen participation in higher education throughout Essex. Make Happen has been delivering activity since January 2017 and we’re about to embark on phase 3 of the programme.
We are seeking an exceptional Make Happen Outreach Assistant until 31st July 2022, to be based at our Colchester Campus. You will work closely with selected schools and colleges to organise and deliver activity across Essex. This is an exciting opportunity to join a team with a commitment to really make a difference.
Duties of the Role
We are looking for a Make Happen Outreach Assistant to support with the development and delivery of a variety of outreach projects to school students in years 9-13, as part of Make Happen, the Essex partnership of the Uni Connect programme. You will assist with building and maintaining strong links with the schools and students in the local area and understand what their needs are to raise participation in higher education from areas with low progression rates.
Skills and Qualifications required
In order to be successful, you will need experience in working on education projects, activities or events, and experience of working with diverse groups of young people. You will have experience of public speaking, preferably to a range of schools/colleges audiences, whilst demonstrating excellent communication and organisational skills. It is important that you have a flexible and adaptable approach to working, as well as having the ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team.
Due to the requirements of the post, you will have the willingness to travel within the county of Essex and to work outside normal office hours when required. This appointment is subject to a criminal record check, known as a Disclosure.

At the time of a job offer, remote and campus working will be discussed and considered on an individual basis, but you will be expected to deliver in schools and colleges in Essex on a regular basis.
