**INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY**Department of Literature, Film, and Theatre StudiesThe Department is seeking to appoint a number of Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTAs) for the academic year 2019-20 to assist with teaching on the following modules, subject to student numbers and as required:* LT111 (FY) - Origins and Transformations in Literature and Drama - up to 3 classes (full- year), subject to student numbers* LT121 (FY) - Approaches to Film and Media - up to 2 classes (full year), subject to student numbers* LT182 (AU) - Text Up Close: Reading for Criticism - up to 2 classes (Autumn term only), subject to student numbers* TH245 (FY) - Gender in Performance: Sexual Politics and the Stage - 1 class (Spring term only), subject to student numbersInformation regarding the content of each of the above modules is available from the online Module Directory: www.essex.ac.uk/modules
Candidates will be required to meet the standards outlined in the Code of Practice on Teaching and Demonstrating by Graduate Students. In order to achieve this you must:* Attend an induction meeting with our GTA Coordinator as appropriate* Attend a two day induction event in September and/or January as appropriate* Pass Module 1 of the online Equality and Diversity training* Successfully complete Level 1 of CADENZA resulting in achievement of Associate Fellow recognition with the Higher Education Academy.Applicants for posts as Graduate Teaching Assistants must be in their second or third year of study in 2019-20, or in their completion period and be registered for a postgraduate research degree at the University of Essex during all or part of the academic year 2019-20.GTAs who have previously taught in the Department should hold CADENZA accreditation in order to be considered.Research supervisors will need to agree that research progress is good and that the student can take up or continue to take up a GTA role and agree the number of hours to be worked.All applications will need to be made in writing, enclosing an up-to-date curriculum vitae and a covering letter, and appointments will be made at the University rates for Graduate Teaching Assistants, depending on hours agreed, at Grade 7 SCP 27 or at Grade 7 SCP 28 for candidates who hold CADENZA.Further information: GTA JobpackClosing date: 28 May 2019
