Funding Information Officer, Research and Enterprise Office
Job description
Research and Enterprise Office
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Research and Enterprise Office (REO) at the University of Essex, in the newly created post of Funding Information Officer.
The successful candidate will join a lively and friendly team of almost 50 professionals in the REO, working to enable research development, knowledge exchange
and wider impact, engagement with businesses, and having institutional research planning and governance responsibilities. The REO supports and enables excellent research with impact to be conducted within this world-leading research-intensive University which is proud to be both top 20 for research excellence (REF 2014) and Gold rated in the Teaching Excellence Framework (2017).
Duties of the Role
Working closely with the Research Development team, the post-holder will take the initiative in identifying research funding and related opportunities relevant to the University's diverse research base, publicising these effectively across all faculties, and developing and maintaining information and other resources, including online resources and newsletters, to support the development of high quality research proposals.
The post-holder will also support the effective co-ordination of the University's engagement in the Eastern Academic Research Consortium (Eastern Arc), liaising with counterparts at the Universities of East Anglia and Kent on a regular basis, organising Eastern Arc meetings and events hosted by the University, ensuring effective internal communications about Eastern Arc activities, and collating data for reporting purposes.
Skills and qualifications required
You will be educated to degree level or equivalent and will have experience of working in a Higher Education or comparable research environment, knowledge of research funding sources and of the challenges and opportunities of the current funding climate, as well as excellent interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills. You will be proactive, resourceful and self-motivating, able to work on your own initiative as well as being an effective member of a team. You will be expected to travel to external meetings and events on an occasional basis.
At the University of Essex internationalism is central to who we are and what we do. We are committed to being a cosmopolitan, internationally-oriented university that is welcoming to staff and students from all countries and a university where you can find the world in one place.
