To further develop our current teaching activities at Essex Business School, we are seeking to appoint a Lecturer in International Business and/or Marketing, to join the Management Science and Entrepreneurship group. This role is offered on full-time basis and will be fixed-term until 30 September 2020 to cover the absence of an existing member of staff. This appointment will play a vital role in enhancing the School's teaching activities, developing undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and extending the School's profile regionally, nationally and internationally.
Duties of the RoleThe purpose of this post is to enhance the School's teaching activities in the field of International Business, Strategy and/or Marketing; teach undergraduate and postgraduate students and supervise master's students; and extend the School's profile regionally, nationally and internationally through providing excellent student experience.
Duties will include engaging effectively in substantive teaching and learning support roles in the School; contributing to the design, planning and delivering of modules and programmes of study in creative and innovative ways; selecting appropriate methods of assessment and feed back to learners (UG, PG, work-based, etc.) in evidence-informed ways appropriate to the subject and level; and to supervise student projects, fieldwork and placements. The post holder will be expected collaborate with colleagues on course development and curriculum changes as appropriate to career stage.
The post-holder will undertake a full range of Education, Leadership and Citizenship and Scholarship and Professional Practice responsibilities as detailed in the Lecturer (ASE) job pack.
Qualifications and Skills requiredApplicants should hold a doctoral level degree in International Business and/or Marketing or be close to completion of studies or equivalent professional experience or practice.
Experience of working independently in teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels, or demonstrable potential to achieve this, coupled with sustained engagement in continuing professional development in relevant subjects/disciplines and their pedagogies is essential for this role.
You should have the ability and willingness to complement and enhance the school's education strengths and areas of planned development; the ability and willingness to engage in knowledge exchange and outreach activities; and a clear understanding of how students learn both generally and within their subject/disciplinary area(s) and the ability to apply this understanding to your own practice.
We are seeking a candidate who possesses a commitment to the on-going evaluation of your own teaching and an ability to do this effectively, with the support of others where appropriate, who possesses strong communication skills, both written and verbal, in order to be able to deliver modules and seminars.
Appointment to this post will be made as Lecturer on a Teaching only (ASE) contract. This post is available from 1 October 2019 and a potential start date can be discussed at the interview.
