Digital Innovation and Technology Services (DITS), delivering outstanding IT and enabling excellence in its use, provides the supporting and enabling IT for the whole University across three campuses, from underlying IT infrastructure to digital skills training for staff and students. Duties of the Role
The University of Essex is seeking a full-time, IT Purchasing Officer on a fixed term contract, to purchase IT equipment, software and facilities for the University.
Working in a small team, in a busy, fast-moving environment they will be responsible for raising a high level of requisitions on a daily basis. With a high customer service ethos, they will confidently be handling a wide range of purchasing queries from staff within Digital Innovation and Technology Services as well as across our growing University.
Critical for excellent service delivery, they will also be part of the team reviewing and monitoring the purchasing process ensuring that all orders are placed to maximise benefit whilst complying with UK purchasing regulations and the University’s financial policy and regulations.
Skills and Qualifications
The successful candidate will have good practical understanding of procurement and supply management, ideally with at least some experience within IT purchasing. A strong negotiator, with excellent communication skills and keen eye for detail, they will have in-depth IT skills and the ability to use a range of databases and financial systems.
