Estate Management is part of the Estates and Campus Services Section and design, repair, maintain and secure all campuses. We aim to provide a seamless service to all students, staff and visitors. Covering a multitude of services, we are available to assist with any issue concerning the University estate and facilities, safety, security and welfare of students, staff and visitors to our campuses.We are now seeking to appoint a number of Security Officers on a fixed-term basis for our Southend and Loughton campuses.Duties of the RoleThe duties of the role will involve ensuring the welfare, safety and security of students, staff and visitors to our campuses at Southend and Loughton. Duties include responding to enquiries in person, by phone or email, liaising with other University Sections, providing first aid, mental health support and pastoral care to students and staff. You will also attend emergency situations, fire alarm activations and evacuations, whilst dealing with conflict situations and patrolling University campuses keeping them secure.Skills and qualifications requiredThe successful candidate will ideally have previous experience of providing a security and welfare support service, and will have experience in working in a customer focused background, the ability to remain calm in a crisis, deal with conflict situations with confidence, have excellent attention to detail and observational skills and have basic computer skills using Microsoft Office software.Good written and verbal communication skills, including good listening skills are essential for this post.Please note these posts are fixed-term until 19 July 2019 and due to the nature of the work, this appointment is subject to a criminal record check, known as a Disclosure.
