The School of Health and Social CareThe School has an excellent reputation for teaching and research in health and social care. The Speech and Language Therapy team have run a successful MSc since 2006; we have now expanded to offer BSc Speech and Language Therapy and are looking for a Lecturer (Practice Educator) to support students and the team based at Colchester campus.
Duties of the RoleYou will provide support to University of Essex student Speech and Language Therapists for placement, undertaking supervision, assessment, monitoring, and guidance to students and educators within the placement setting and undertaking practical skills teaching as is required.
Duties will include engaging successfully in teaching and learning support roles in the Department, and developing a broad understanding of how such activities support student learning, assisting in meeting both practice and education needs of the learner who is under the supervision of registered health care professionals and educators and participate as a member of the team through development of collaborative practice.

Skills and qualifications requiredThe successful candidate will hold a relevant Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate subject and/or professional experience and/or practice in the fields of speech and language therapy and will have fellowship of the Higher Education Academy or the ability to gain professional recognition at this or a higher-level if appropriate.
Experience in teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels, or demonstrable potential to engage in teaching and learning support in higher education in imaginative, engaging and innovative ways, experience of supporting, supervising and assessing Speech and Language Therapy students whilst on placement during their training and experience in Speech and Language Therapy, meeting the requirements for maintaining registration with the HCPC are all essential for this post.
