The Role and DutiesWe are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, energetic and proactive individual to the position of Senior International Admissions Adviser in the Undergraduate Admissions Office. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a varied, team-based role within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
You will join a team of Senior International Admissions Advisers who play a key role in ensuring that the team delivers a high quality, efficient and effective admissions service to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. The main focus of the role will be responsibility for processing and making selection decisions on international applications, ensuring that decisions are made in accordance with the University's admissions policy and are compliant with Home Office sponsor guidance for students that require a Tier 4 visa to study in the UK.
In addition, you will be responsible for delivering and assisting managers with training and briefing sessions for staff involved in admissions and student recruitment. The Senior International Admissions Adviser is also responsible for responding to queries from a variety of stakeholders, including enquirers, applicants, recruitment staff and agents. Other duties include undertaking research and assessment on the acceptability of some undergraduate qualifications for entry to the University, for example foundation course assessments, and undertaking fee status assessments for undergraduate applicants.
The Senior International Admissions Adviser has line management responsibility for some temporary staff within the Undergraduate Admissions team during the busy summer confirmation and clearing period. You will be responsible for their induction, training and management throughout their contracts.
There are two positions available.
Qualifications and Skills requiredYou will have the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritising effectively in order to meet deadlines whilst giving close attention to detail. In addition, you will be a highly organised individual who has excellent written and oral communication skills. You will also have a proven ability to acquire knowledge and understanding of detailed policies and procedures, including policies relating to Tier 4 compliance, and be able to interpret and apply them accurately.
Minimum of 5 GCSEs, grades A - C, including English and Maths, and 2 A-levels (or equivalent level qualifications) are an essential requirement for this role.
Please note that previous experience in university admissions or higher education is not essential for this role, as full training will be provided.
