The DepartmentThere has never been a more exciting time to work at Essex Sport. In November 2017, we will be opening our new GBP 11 million pound sports area, which will sit alongside our existing sports hall in providing transformational opportunities for students, staff and the local community to take part in physical activity. Showcasing futsal, netball, volleyball and basketball, it will be one of the best indoor arenas in the U.K.
The Role and DutiesThe University of Essex is seeking to recruit two Sports Development Assistants, who will assist and offer administrative support to broad range of Essex Sport development programming including drop-in sessions, adult and children courses, leagues and tournaments, Essex Crown tournaments and community outreach activity.
We now want to fill it with a range of exciting sport participation provision that will engage new people into sport, and we want you to be part of that. This position offers an excellent opportunity for an enterprising individual to develop many new skills, playing a vital role in meeting this vision and showing a bold approach to increasing the opportunities for students and staff to take part sport and physical activity.
You will work closely with the Sports Development team at the Sports Centre to create a calendar of events, offering administrative support and assistance throughout the year. You will promote our products on campus and on social media, as well as providing on hand support when running sessions, tournaments or events.
This is a permanent post, working 10 hours a week during term-time (25 weeks per year).
Qualifications and Skills RequiredFor our programming to grow, we'll need someone who is enthusiastic, organised, and reliable. However, most importantly, we want someone who is challenges how we deliver sport and aspires to put the student at the heart of it, creating an unrivalled student experience.
Experience of successfully coordinating projects and working as part of a team are essential requirements for these roles.
