The opportunity has arisen for a motivated individual to join our Accommodation Essex team as a Caretaker at our Southend-on-Sea campus.
Duties of the roleThe successful candidate will be responsible for removal of rubbish and cleaning within the campus residential accommodation. You will be required to carry out minor repairs to furniture and fittings, including lock maintenance and carry out regular health and safety checks.
In addition, you will distribute student post and collect and distribute materials and equipment from stores/external delivery companies. You will be carrying our minor repairs to furniture and fittings and undertake legionella checks and any other relevant health and safety checks when necessary.
Skills and Qualifications Candidates will hold GCSE's grade C and above in English language and Maths or equivalent and an NVQ level 2 in customer care is desirable but not essential. You will be able to undertake the physical aspects of the post, have good verbal and written communication skills and have the ability to undertake minor maintenance tasks.
Appointment to this post will be made on a full-time (38hours per week) permanent basis to be worked as required within the working operational window of 7.00am - 6.00pm, 5 days in 7 days. However, in the interests of working efficiency the University may from time to time review current working patterns. Changes to working patterns resulting from this will be subject to a minimum of 21 calendar days' notice.
The current working pattern is 8.30am - 5.00pm Monday to Thursday, 9.00am - 4.45pm Friday with a 45-minute lunch break each day.
