Library & Cultural Services at the University of Essex provides high-quality study environments, resources and professional support towards the University’s mission of excellence in education and research. The Frontline Services team is the face of the Library, and is responsible for providing excellent customer service, with the goal of enabling our students to become successful independent learners. Members of the team engage proactively with our users to ensure our services are shaped around them, including as part of extracurricular events and activities to enrich the student experience.
Duties of the Role
The Communications & Engagement Assistant will plan and deliver communications and engagement campaigns for Library & Cultural Services, ensuring that staff and students are aware of the full range of what we can offer. This will involve working closely with individuals and teams across the service to understand their needs and support them in communicating these to a wider audience. The post holder will be responsible for the co-ordination of social media channels, including Twitter and Instagram.
A job share arrangement for this role can be considered. Please provide details on your application of which hours and days you are available to work. Please note that continuation of a job share arrangement is dependent on there being two people available to undertake the arrangement.
Skills and qualifications required
Applicants should have excellent customer service skills along with knowledge and experience of promoting activities, events or services.
They will need excellent digital skills and experience in using programmes such as Adobe Spark, VideoScribe, Piktochart etc to produce marketing materials.
