Duties of the Role
We are looking for a Digital Heritage scholar or cognate discipline with research expertise on 3D technologies, participatory practices, and digital co-creation to join the project titled REbuilding a sense of PLACE (REPLACE): The socio-cultural role of 3D technologies in increasing community resilience after natural disasters, funded by a UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship.
REPLACE will conduct an ethnographic study and compare several communities in Italy, a country that has regularly been hit by earthquakes in recent years.
The post-holder will be part of a research team led by the PI and consisting of two PDRAs, a project officer to provide administrative support, and two collaborators from the digital and creative industrial sector.
You will contribute to the development and assessment of participatory practices, to study the socio-cultural role 3D technologies can play in rebuilding a sense of place, thus enabling communities to prepare for, respond to, recover from, mitigate the effects, and adapt to natural disasters.
The post-holder will provide research assistance to the Principal Investigator, engage in both collaborative and independent research, and prepare research findings for publication and dissemination. The post-holder also will support the Principal Investigator in the day-to-day running of the project and have responsibility for specific tasks, such as the organisation of events, the preparation and delivery of impact or knowledge exchange activities, or the maintenance of the project website and social media presence.
Skills and qualifications required
The successful candidate will hold a relevant degree in Digital Heritage or cognate discipline or proven equivalent professional experience or be close to completion of PhD; as well as a certificate of Italian C1 Language competence or equivalent demonstrable knowledge. You will also have demonstrable research expertise relevant to the research project in at least one of the following areas: participatory practices in Digital Heritage; Digital Co-creation.Applicants are expected to have evidence of a developing research agenda, engagement in high-quality research activity and a developing research profile; a developing record of publications in internationally recognised, reputable journals appropriate to career stage and discipline norms; and strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
