The School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering (CSEE) The School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering (CSEE) is a large and dynamic department in the Faculty of Science and Health. The School is internationally known for its research in a range of areas and offers an excellent education to its students. We are rapidly growing due to increasing student numbers and now wish to appoint an exceptional individual at Professorial level to further develop our research and education expertise. We are advertising for a range of opportunities within our School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering. These roles have a range of start dates commencing between 1 October 2019 and 30 June 2020. The start date for each specific role will be discussed at interview.Duties of the RoleSupported by a team of newly to be appointed and existing academic staff, you will be responsible for creating a new Engineering and AI in Healthcare/Medicine research group, supervising its development, and ensuring its on-going contribution to the School. The group will focus on informatics, IoT, AI applied to automated surveillance, health robotics, wearable health sensors and data science for patient care.You will contribute actively to education provision made by the department/faculty at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels and you will be expected to provide strategic leadership in education which will make a significant contribution to the development of student learning at the University, and build a sustained and effective record of impact at strategic level in regards to learning and teaching.You will pursue research that is world leading in terms of originality, significance and rigour, in keeping with the REF criteria and provide research leadership enriching the research profile of the School and wider University, and enhance the scholarly reputation of the School by contact with the wider community and the dissemination of knowledge via public communication and other activities. It is expected that you will generate substantial research income commensurate with subject area norms and that you will develop links with organisations such as PHE, NIHR, and NHS Trusts, to enhance both education, graduate employment, and societal impact of research.Skills and Qualifications requiredThe successful candidate will hold a relevant doctoral level research degree or equivalent professional experience or practice, and hold a distinguished academic record including internationally excellent research, demonstrating appropriate markers of academic esteem and credibility and/or professional recognition.Evidence of teaching excellence at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, a sustained record of strategic leadership in academic practise and development, and a strong, sustained record of academic publication at international or world-leading levels of recognition, with evidence of a clear publication plan for submission to future REF programmes are essential for this post.This is a permanent, full-time post on an ASER (teaching and research) contract.
