The Embedded and Intelligent Systems Laboratory in the School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering (CSEE) at the University of Essex carries out research in the areas of Embedded Systems and System-on-Chip design with focus on security, power, performance and reliability, advanced embedded systems and processor architectures targeted for cyber physical systems, automotive/industrial, robotics, image processing, networked and distributed sensor nodes / Internet of Things and real-time critical systems. Furthermore, it works in the area of Big Data Analytics, computer vision and embedded AI for real world problems and application areas.We are looking for two Senior Research Officer / Research Officers who will support the Embedded and Intelligent Systems Research Laboratory's work on embedded systems, System on Chip architectures and technology and their applications, such as Industry 4.0 and IoT Security which is currently funded by European and EPSRC projects. The post holder will contribute towards further evolving the laboratory facilities and also carry out research focusing and leading to prestigious publications in scientific journals and conferences.With a skill-set in either Embedded Software Development or Hardware Design, the successful candidate will have the ability to work to deadlines whilst demonstrating a track record for innovation and creativity. A PhD in a relevant discipline (or equivalent level of experience) is required at Senior Research Officer level. An MSc or equivalent level of experience in Electronic Engineering or Computer Science related discipline and experience of working on a collaborative research projects is desirable.These posts, based at our Colchester campus, are fixed term to the end of 2019 due to funding and could be on a full time or part time basis (please specify in your application your preference).
