The School of Biological Sciences
The School of Biological Sciences is large and diverse and provides a vibrant research and teaching environment with a strong collegiate culture. We have a global reputation for our research: two-thirds of our research was rated as 'world leading' or 'international excellent' in REF 2014. We conduct research in six main
areas comprising: Cancer and Stem Cell Biology; Genomics and Computational Biology; Ecology and Environmental Microbiology; Protein Structure and Function; Plant Productivity. Our infrastructure and facilities match our ambitions to carry out excellent research.
The School of Biological Sciences comprises in the region of 900 students supported by over 100 academic, research and support staff. We offer a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the areas of Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Science, Genetics, and Marine Biology. We champion research-led education, where teaching is informed by our research and students develop analytical, laboratory and field based skills. Our aim is to provide a challenging and rewarding environment for both our students and staff.

Duties of the Role
The Education Manager will be responsible for supporting the School's academic standards and quality function, with a focus on providing operational leadership and management. This will include the line management of relevant staff.
The post-holder will work closely with the Director of Education to support key projects and initiatives to review and enhance learning and teaching approaches within the School across all provision, and to promote student engagement and support, with a focus on enhancing the student experience and improving student satisfaction.
The Education Manager will also be responsible for examination boards and the accuracy of the School's course and module records, including maintaining accurate records of new course and module approvals, and overseeing the review and update of existing courses and modules via the annual update process.
Skills and qualifications required
Applicants will be expected to have a good first degree or equivalent professional experience. You will have significant and relevant administrative experience in a complex and challenging role, including developing and implementing administrative policies and procedures.
