This post is based in the Accommodation team in the Student Services Hub. The Accommodation Essex Team oversees the accommodation requirements for all students across our Colchester and Southend Campuses. The Accommodation team are responsible for managing the application, allocation and tenancy agreements for over 5500 rooms, in collaboration with colleagues across the University
Duties of the Role
The Senior Systems officer will be responsible for overseeing all systems and IT requirements associated with the administrative work of Accommodation Essex. This will be co-ordinated by the post-holder in conjunction with the existing Accommodation Administration and Systems Officers. This role will also act as the key point of contact with our external systems provider - Kinetics. The post-holder, with the support of the Administration and Systems Officers, will be responsible for proposing system amendments to enhance administrative tasks and drive improvements and efficiencies.
The post holder will be expected to interrogate data to produce regular and adhoc management reporting as required. They will also lead on the day to day maintenance and configuration of the databases, alongside the scheduling and execution of key events in the application cycle, in collaboration with colleagues in ITS.
The Senior Systems Officer will assist the Administration & Systems Manager with any other administrative or systems tasks and with front line customer services as necessary.
Skills and qualifications required
The post holder must have extensive experience in IT systems and databases, including how to interrogate large datasets to provide management reports as required. They will be expected to have a meticulous approach to their work, with an eye for detail to ensure that systems are operating and functioning in line with business requirements. The post holder must be a strong communicator, with the ability to explain complex information clearly to a wide variety of audiences. They must also be able to interact effectively, and work collaboratively with various departments, both internally and externally across the University.
