The Department is a growing and vibrant department in the Faculty of Science and Health. DMS is internationally known for its research in a range of areas, and offers an excellent education to its students.
The Department of Mathematical Sciences (DMS) is seeking to appoint a Research Officer to work on Mathematics Education research projects running within the department. The post is full time, fixed-term for 7 months. It offers an excellent opportunity to develop research skills and gain valuable experience of undertaking mathematics education research.
Duties of the post
Duties will include undertaking core, practical elements of research such as setting up and conducting experiments, developing questionnaires and conducting fieldwork, recording data and identifying trends or patterns; producing an online survey tool in Python; and communicating results and illustrating suggestions in compelling and creative ways.

Qualifications and Skills required
The successful candidate will have a relevant Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate subject and/or professional experience and/or practice in a relevant the field and will have evidence of an emerging research agenda, engagement in high-quality research activity and a developing research profile.
Experience and knowledge of Python and R and of conducting surveys are essential for this post.
