The Management Science and Entrepreneurship (MSE) Group at Essex Business School has an international reputation for its cutting edge research. This appointment is intended to build further upon this reputation by contributing to the range of teaching offered and strengthening the research profile of the MSE Group, promoting Essex Business School as one of the premier business schools in the UK.
The Group is now seeking to appoint an academic at the Lecturer level.
The post holder will be required to fully contribute to the development of the MSE group through their work in international business management and will play an important role in the development of the teaching, research, development and administration activities of the Essex Business School and the MSE Group at Southend. A specialism in any one of the areas of international business management will constitute the post holder's critical area of teaching and research expertise.
Duties of the RoleThe purpose of this post is to enhance the School's research profile in the field of International Business Management; teach undergraduate and postgraduate students and supervise research students; and extend the School's profile regionally, nationally and internationally through activities such as publishing in top peer-reviewed journals and presenting papers at prestigious conferences.
Duties will include developing a research agenda within or closely linked to an area of international business management which pursues individual and/or collaborative research, undertaking research activity (resulting in internationally excellent publications) that is in keeping with REF criteria; engaging effectively in substantive teaching and learning support roles in the School; and contributing to the design, planning and delivering of modules and programmes of study in creative and innovative ways; and to supervise and mentor postgraduate research students. As part of your research you will be expected to generate external research funding, including in collaboration with colleagues, appropriate in scale to career stage and subject area norms.

Qualifications and Skills requiredApplicants should hold a relevant doctoral level research degree in Business Management or be close to completion of your PhD.
Evidence of a research agenda, engagement in high-quality research activity and a developing research profile, with a clear publication plan for submission to future REF programmes is essential, as is a track record of publications in internationally recognised, reputable journals appropriate to career stage and discipline norms.
In addition, you will have proven experience in teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels, or demonstrable potential to achieve this and should have strong communication skills, both written and verbal, in order to be able to disseminate knowledge and research to the wider academic community.
Ideally, you will have experience of generating income to support research and/or knowledge exchange appropriate to your career stage and discipline norms.
This is a permanent, full-time role on an ASER (teaching and research) contract and appointment will be made as Lecturer (R). This post is available from 1 October 2019, and a start date can be discussed during the interview.
