We will be looking to support research that enhances our understanding of performance in all its manifestations, both through practice and publication.The Role and DutiesThe successful applicant will provide strategic leadership and operational management of East 15 across its Loughton and Southend Campus (University of Essex). The Director of East 15 will actively contribute to sustained engagement in curriculum development and also to the development of the School and University's national and international profiles, through the development and construction of partnerships and recruitment.Key responsibilities also include carrying out independent research leading to the publication of high quality research articles or other research outputs that can be returned under future research assessment exercises and contributing to the schools REF submission.In addition, for the position of Professor, they will pursue world-leading and internationally excellent research activity in context of REF and generate societal impact from the results of research.
The Person (Skills and Qualifications required)We are looking for a professional theatre practitioner with proven senior management experience in a theatre-related field and experience of contributing to the administrative operations of an academic unit in an HE environment. The successful candidate will hold an MA in a Theatre or Drama related discipline and will be expected to be a member of the Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy or commitment to gain this at an appropriate level within the first three years of appointment.Candidates will be required to demonstrate evidence of teaching excellence in a Higher Education environment along with in a theatre conservatoire environment; they will have well-developed research agenda with a publication record or equivalent research outputs, and future plans to produce outputs, suitable for future REF submissions and will have experience in contributing to the administrative operations of an academic unit in a Higher Education unit.In addition, for the position of Professor, they will have a well-established research agenda with International level recognition and will be able to demonstrate the ability to attract research funding through successful grant activities.At the University of Essex internationalism is central to who we are and what we do.
