Applications are invited for a Senior Research Officer to work on an exciting collaborative research, "Bright Futures": A Comparative Study of Internal and International Mobility of Chinese and Japanese Higher Education Students," led by Professor Yasemin Soysal. The post will be held in the Department of Sociology, and the researcher will take responsibility for a large-scale survey of Chinese and Japanese students in UK universities.
Successful candidates will have a PhD in Sociology or a related social science discipline and the ability to work together with an international team. The position requires demonstrated expertise in, and previous experience with social science survey research (at postgraduate or postdoctoral levels) and high level organizational and management skills. Proven ability to employ multivariate statistical analysis and author work of publishable standard will be taken into consideration. It will be an advantage to have knowledge of East Asia and language skills in Mandarin or Japanese. The position will involve some travel for project meetings and fieldwork. The post is fixed-term for 18 months.
