This is an exciting opportunity to join the Management and Marketing Group at Essex Business School in the field of Marketing. The group already has more than 20 research active members, consisting of emerging as well as world-leading researchers with an international reputation for its cutting-edge research in the fields of brand management, sustainability, social enterprise, critical management & marketing and consumer behaviour.
We are keen to appoint a talented scholar with experience in any area of Marketing, appointing at Lecturer, Senior Lecturer or Reader level. We would, however, especially welcome applications from those with expertise in:
Duties of the Role
The purpose of this post is to enhance the school’s research profile and to both contribute to and lead in developing the field of marketing at the school; to develop and actively engage in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and supervision; and to extend the school’s profile regionally, nationally and internationally through collaboration with other institutions.
Duties at Lecturer level will include effective engagement in substantive teaching and learning support at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. You will also carry out research activities that will as a minimum meet the University’s expectations for future Research Exercise Framework (REF) exercises.
Duties at Senior Lecturer/Reader level will engage in both curriculum development, undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, and research supervision at both an individual and a strategic level, and individual and/or collaborative research activity resulting in internationally excellent publications that is in keeping with REF criteria. In addition, you will provide research leadership and engage in activities that will enhance the research profile of the Department.
At any level, you will be expected to generate research income appropriate in scale to career stage and subject area norms.

Qualifications and Skills required
Applicants should hold a doctoral-level research degree in Marketing or relevant field (or be close to completing your studies if applying at Lecturer level) or have equivalent professional or pedagogical experience or practice.
Applicants at Lecturer level will have proven experience of teaching at both undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels or demonstrable potential to achieve this. Applicants will also have evidence of a research agenda, engagement in high-quality research activity and a developing research profile.
Applicants at Senior Lecturer/Reader level will have a sustained record of effectiveness in education at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. You will also have an established and internationally recognised research profile, with a well-developed future research agenda and a record of success in generating external research income appropriate in scale to disciplinary norms and career stage.
At any level, you will also need to have evidence of a clear publication plan for submission to future Research Excellence Framework (REF) programmes.
This is a permanent, full-time post on an ASER (teaching and research) contract. The start date for each post can be discussed with you at interview.
