Our Department was founded over 40 years ago and has become one of the largest and most prestigious departments of its type in the world, with more than 40 teaching and research staff, 200 postgraduate and 300 undergraduate students. We are an open, friendly and cosmopolitan department, with 40% of our students coming from outside the UK and 30% of our undergraduates being mature students.
The Department is now seeking to appoint an Administrator on a fixed term basis until March 2022.
Duties of the Role
As Administrator, you will be responsible for providing excellent customer service to students and visitors to the Department, and high-quality professional support services to programme directors and other academic staff. You will work in accordance with the Department’s student services delivery model, and the Department’s principles, values and behaviours.
You will be expected to demonstrate a wide range of knowledge and expertise across all student groups and to provide appropriate and timely information, advice and guidance to staff, students and visitors. Along with, taking responsibility for specific initiatives or projects on behalf of the Deputy Department Manager, provide administration services in relation to courses, modules, assessment and student records, support the work of the professional services team and academic staff as a whole. You will contribute to effective communication and engagement within a culture of strong partnership working with academic staff and contribute to a culture of excellence in service delivery, sharing of best practice and continuous improvement.

Skills and qualifications required
The post would suit an experienced administrator and team member, who is able to deliver excellent professional and customer service standards. You should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and strong practical IT skills, with experience of using databases.
The ability to manage and prioritise multiple tasks, meet deadlines and manage workload, experience of accurate data entry and managing accessible records, and minimum of five GCSEs at grade A-C (or equivalent) are all essential for this post.
