The ISER Directorship provides an exciting opportunity for an outstanding individual with the vision and ambition to shape ISER's future development and direction. Established over 25 years ago, ISER is one of the world's leading quantitative social research institutes, known for its expertise in the collection and analysis of longitudinal data. We seek a Director to provide strategic leadership and ensure the long-term sustainability of ISER.
The successful candidate will have an established research profile and the ambition and ability to manage a major research organisation that is engaged in both data resource production and substantive analysis. The Director leads an inter-disciplinary research team to consolidate and extend ISER's national and international reputation in quantitative analysis and policy relevant research. The Director also plays a key role in promoting ISER's research to external stakeholders to maximise the impact of ISER's research. Candidates may be from any disciplinary background relevant to ISER's research portfolio.
The successful candidate should hold a PhD in a relevant social science discipline or have equivalent research experience. They should possess a distinguished publication record and be able to present evidence of a strong personal contribution to the next Research Excellence Framework at a minimum 3* level. They must also have prior experience of successful academic leadership and management of large scale projects, and sustained performance in winning external research funding. They will require the ability to establish positive and effective working relationships with colleagues and external partners, and to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
ISER is a department within the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Director works with the Executive Dean of the Faculty to deliver ISER's objectives.
