THE PROJECT
The University of Essex in partnership with MSX International offers an exciting opportunity for a graduate to lead the development of a predictive, self-learning model for automotive warranty expenditure with reference to a broad range of factors ranging from product quality to dealer and customer behaviour. This post is fixed-term for 24 months and is based at the MSX International offices at the Knowledge Gateway, University of Essex, Colchester.
DUTIES OF THE POST
The duties of the post will include:
- Researching and developing solutions in terms of algorithms and computational tools for the creation of a predictive, self-learning model for automotive warranty expenditure.- Examining existing software and determining requirements for new/modified systems in light of the business needs. - Writing and coding for individual programs according to specifications. - Being aware of any existing tools in the public domain via a full literature and state of the art review.- Undertaking feasibility study to design software solutions.- Preparing reports and presentations with the aim to make any developments understandable to MSX International, in addition to maintaining and build on results. - Developing operational documentation and providing subsequent support and training for users to embed knowledge and upskill staff.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
The post holder must have:
- BSc in Operational Research, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Sciences and related disciplines.- Good theoretical and applied knowledge of mathematical methods for data science, including foundational topics such as calculus, linear algebra, statistics and optimisation. - Ability to work to tight deadlines; excellent time management and organisational skills.
