The Office of the Vice-Chancellor (OVC)
The OVC comprises of staff based on our Colchester and Southend campuses.
Members of the University’s senior management team are based in the OVC, including the Vice-Chancellor, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Registrar & Secretary, Pro-Vice-Chancellors for Research and Education, Deputy Registrars, Dean of Partnerships, Dean of Postgraduate Research and Education, Chief of Staff, Deputy University Secretary, Assistant Registrar, and the Campus Manager (Southend).
The OVC is also home to four teams who provide dedicated support to the University’s management and governance functions. These teams:
Duties of the Role
Working with colleagues across the University, the Information Assurance Assistant will ensure accurate and timely responses for queries raised under the Freedom of Information Act and UK GDPR; provide a first port of call for basic enquiries; and ensure that the University’s data protection web pages and publication schemes are kept up to date. The Information Assurance Assistant will also work closely with other teams in the OVC, supporting the team during periods of absence, handling and resolving administration queries, by phone, email and in person.

Skills and qualifications required
The successful candidate will be qualified to A-Level or equivalent standard and will have experience in working accurately and with attention to detail within a defined framework or set of rules. You will have a good understanding of the meaning and importance of confidentiality and demonstrate excellent personal organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and to work to competing deadlines. You will be a first-rate communicator, with an understanding of how to deliver good customer care.
