The School of Health & Human Science (from 1 August to be renamed as the School of Health and Social Care) has an excellent reputation for teaching and research in health and social care. Established in 2003 it is the newest department at the University and with its continued growth one of the largest (over 1200 students).
Our academic members of staff (approx. 100) include nurses, other health care professionals, social workers, psychologists and sociologists. The School is run over 2 campuses, based at Southend and Colchester . Academic staff are supported by a team of administrative staff based at both Colchester and Southend campuses.
At the University's Colchester campus the School offers pre-registration (UG and PG) programmes in Physiotherapy, Adult and Mental Health Nursing, Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Sports Therapy, Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner programmes, a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, and Higher Apprenticeships in Mental Health. We also jointly run with other departments in the University, Masters Programmes for Health Research and Health and Organisational Research. We also provide a wide range of continuing professional development opportunities for practising health and social care professionals offering a range of BSc, MSc, Professional Doctorate degrees, and PhD programmes. The Professional Doctorate programme has been particularly successful in developing and supporting Nurse Consultants.

The School provides a range of opportunities for study in Nursing, Allied Health, Oral Health, Clinical Psychology and Psychological Well-being, Social work, Higher Apprenticeships and continuing professional development.
