Assessment Manager (Exam Boards), Academic Section
Job description
Do you have a combination of strong organisational and people management skills and experience, with the ability to apply and advise on policy and procedure?
We are looking for an experienced manager with strong administrative and organisational skills; and the ability to lead and deliver a specialist higher education service.
This is an opportunity to
play a leading role in managing the processing and publication of our students' academic results; and to advise on and develop our rules of assessment and associated policies. The Assessment Team plays a leading institutional role in this important aspect of students' academic lives. You would join us at the start of a major project to radically transform our assessment infrastructure to support our students, and play a role in helping to shape and deliver this new approach.
You will lead the exam boards team within the overall Assessment Team. You will be responsible for organising and delivering examination boards, ensuring the efficient, accurate and timely processing of results for students. You will be a source of expertise on policy and procedure, and contribute to the review, development and implementation of assessment policy and practice.
You will bring senior administrative experience in a higher education or equivalent context. You will have excellent communication, interpersonal and management skills with the ability to build productive working relationships with a wide range of people and teams. You will be highly organised and used to delivering to deadlines. You will be able to advise on and support the review and development of academic policy.
At the University of Essex, internationalism and diversity is central to who we are and what we do. We are committed to being a cosmopolitan, internationally oriented university that is welcoming to staff and students from all countries, faiths and backgrounds, where you can find the world in one place.
To support this commitment we have our
Global Forum
, a staff-led network that promotes and celebrates the rich cultural diversity among Essex staff, and our Colchester campus based Faith Centre, which hosts regular services, meetings and events organised by our chaplains and faith representatives. For more information see:

Please see the attached job pack, which contains a full job description and person specification which outlines the full duties, skills, qualifications and experience needed for this role plus more information relating to the post. We recommend you read this information carefully before making an application.
