The School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering (CSEE) The School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering is one of the largest academic departments in the University of Essex with over 1200 students studying at undergraduate and postgraduate level. Over recent years the School has increased the range of provision it offers to include degree apprenticeships courses (with students studying aspects of their course remotely while situated in the workplace), and a new partnership programme with Northwest University in China. In addition, students on our traditional courses are increasingly looking for a more diverse range of teaching materials to support their learning. Due to the volume, scope and range of provision we now offer and the diverse nature of our student body, the School is looking to engage a learning technologist on a 2-year project to undertake a programme of work enhance the quality and effectiveness of the student learning environment. Duties of the RoleThe post holder will be expected to deliver a number of project strands including reviewing the School's MOODLE template to ensure it is fit for purpose and its consistent adoption across the School, working with academic staff to develop engaging blended learning content for both specialist and standard course provision, developing a range of learning technology tools and templates for use by academic staff, and providing training to staff in these tools and methods both by facilitating face to face training sessions and developing appropriate training materials.A full list of duties can be found within the jobpack.Skills and qualifications requiredThe successful candidate will hold an honours degree, or equivalent and will have a qualification (or equivalent formal training) in instructional design/ E-learning and /or Multimedia Production. Alongside these, you will have extensive knowledge and practical understanding of Educational Technology as it applies to the higher education sector in the UK and knowledge of HTML and web authoring.Video production skills, sound recording and editing skills, and excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills, with the ability to work to tight deadlines are all essential for this post.
