East 15 Acting School
East 15 Acting School is a top-ranked conservatoire school which consistently scores over 90% for student satisfaction in the National Student Survey. Part of the University of Essex, East 15 has recently been listed as one of the top 3 drama schools in the UK by The Stage and the University is ranked third for Drama and Dance in both the Times
Good University Guide and the Guardian University Guide 2018. We are committed to excellence in education and research.
The school currently has nearly 800 students and provides training for the professional theatre and media industry. A member of the Federation of Drama Schools, courses include: BA Acting; BA Acting (International); BA Acting and Contemporary Theatre; BA Acting and Community Theatre; BA Acting and Stage Combat; BA Acting and Physical Theatre; BA World Performance; Cert HE in Acting; MA Acting; MA/MFA Acting (International); MA/MFA Theatre Directing; BA Stage and Production Management and our new programme, BA Theatre Making and Producing.
East 15 has recently created a new focus on building its research profile. We intend to submit to REF 2020/21 and are committed to developing a thriving research culture. We will be looking to support research that enhances our understanding of performance in all its manifestations, both through practice and publication.
Duties of the Role
This is one of a number of new research centred posts aimed at developing the school's research capacity. The successful candidate will be expected to make a significant contribution to both the research and the teaching activities of the school and therefore will have a strong and successful background in research with a recognised reputation in this field as well as experience of teaching at Higher Education level. The post will mainly be based at our Southend Campus with visits to Loughton as required.
The post-holder will also be expected to contribute to the successful administration and management of the department, obtain external research funding and contribute to the department's expansion strategy for new modules in key areas.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a brand new research strategy within a well-established professional acting school. Likely areas of proven research and teaching experience are outlined below, although we are open to alternative, similar areas of interest.
