Department of Mathematical Sciences
The Department of Mathematical Sciences was one of the first to be established when the University began in 1964. It is a true community of student, staff, alumni and friends and we take great pride in our excellent staff-student relations. The department teaches modules in Applied Mathematics, Pure Mathematics, Statistics and Operational Research, as well as specialist modules for Computer Science and Electronic Systems Engineering.
Duties of the Role
We are seeking someone to provide administrative support for staff and undergraduate students in the Department of Mathematical Sciences. This will include day-to-day involvement with staff and current students, as well as course and examination administration.
This is a part-time post (0.5 FTE job share), for a fixed-term to 28 June 2019 in order to provide cover for a permanent member of staff who is absent from work on maternity leave.
Skills and qualifications required
The successful candidate will be educated to 'A' level or equivalent. They will have strong administrative and organisational skills, the ability to deal with multiple priorities and deadlines and to work accurately. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills combined with the ability to deal effectively with frequent interruptions are also essential for this post.At the University of Essex internationalism is central to who we are and what we do.
