Essex Rebels
The Essex Rebels started life after an elevation to the professional ranks of the WBBL in the 2018/19 season. This proved an impressive initial season for the Essex Rebels and it also saw the development of an all-encompassing talent pathway which helped establish the University of Essex as a UK regional hub of premium basketball development. The Essex Rebels basketball programme now proudly boasts two senior professional teams, a junior club plus community and schools outreach programmes. Essex Rebels game days are at the heart of our fan experience, and we are looking to expand to reach new audiences both from across the local community and also from the wider student population through high quality social media content.
The Role and duties
We are seeking a new full time Digital and Social Content Creator at our Colchester campus. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and publishing content for the Essex Rebels basketball programme. We are looking for a highly skilled content creator that can produce short and long form content suitable for a range of platforms including Tiktok, Instagram, and Youtube The post holder will also be skilled in using tools such as Adobe Creative Suite and Canva to design dynamic content to engage existing fans and to drive awareness and interaction from target markets, including the student population at the University and into communities of adults and children across the wider Colchester region.
Moreover, we are looking to build a loyal following of fans and supporters on game day at the Essex Sport Arena. The Arena is a nationally recognised, cutting edge venue with a capacity for 1655 spectators and its home to the Essex Rebels. To help us achieve our ambitious goals of filling the venue with Rebels fans on game days we are seeking a passionate and talented individual to develop high quality, engaging content which will attract new followers and create a high volume of traffic and views to our digital platforms.
Qualifications and skills required
The position requires a dynamic, experienced social media content creator who has a background in generating new audiences and engaging existing fan bases. Knowledge of creating content within the sports industry is essential as are the demonstrable skills to generate impactful and cohesive content in this fast paced and exciting environment.
You must possess excellent social media skills and the ability to build strong, engaging content aimed at students, staff, parents, children, and supporters of the Essex Rebels. Importantly, the position requires enthusiasm and flexibility, the ability to work independently and under pressure, and a commitment to continuous professional development.
